Vincent Paul Martinez Jr. (361) 652-3766 B I O G R A P H Y Vincent Paul Martinez Jr. was born May 29th 1982 in San Antonio Texas where much of his childhood was spent drawing robots and monsters. In 1994 he moved out of the big city and into the small town of Victoria Texas where he began to rap and paint. The raps were spoken incessantly and spontaneously amongst his peers in school yards and on farms at house parties. These farms also became the back drop for Vincent’s visual art as his work began to transition from an urban influence to a more rural one. These rural painted scenes were inspired by the homes of the country folk Vincent befriended after getting settling in Victoria. In 1999 one of his paintings was entered into The Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo and sold in an auction for $16,000. $2,000 of the sale Vincent was able to use for scholarship, the rest of the money went towards an art program that he had attended the previous summer called Cowboy Artists of America held at Schreiner University in Kerrville Texas. While attending Austin Community College Vincent studied painting at Austin Museum of Art’s Laguna Gloria campus and at Noel Robbin’s Studio which would prepare him for the art program he would soon enter at Texas State in San Marcos. Rapping skills were also being sharpened at local open mics and freestyle battles giving him more confidence in his Hip Hop endeavors. Vincent answered to an ad for a cooperative studio space where his first art shows were held and were he would later live. One of his studio mates “Picoteck” gave him the name Emcee Eats for always having bags full of food to prepare for late night painting. Emcee Eats joined the Hip Hop group Fambly and would soon perform with acts such as The Word Association, Qwell, and The GZA. In 2006 a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphases in painting was achieved from Texas State in San Marcos and with this degree Vincent continues to make art. Vincent lives in Austin Texas where he raps and paints. R E S U M E Education B.F.A.
